I am the chair of the Authority, as well as a member of the audit resources and performance committee, strategic advisory group, urgent business items sub-committee.
I am a member of Leekfrith Parish Council in the Staffordshire Moorlands. I am currently deputy chair of National Parks England.
I am a retired Maths and English Tutor, and live on the fringes of the National Park, near to Hen Cloud and The Roaches. This is part of the South West Peak and the Staffordshire Moorlands, which form the Limestone plateau, a very important natural habitat; one which I treasure immensely.
What the national park means to me
We live in an area of wonderful, natural beauty, but it is an area where the landscape has been moulded over the centuries by those who live here. Conservation and climate change will affect us all, and we must adapt and change as it does, whilst remembering to cherish the special nature of the national park.
The importance of thriving local communities cannot be underestimated, and I am very proud to be the first Parish Member to become Chairman of the Authority. I have always had a great interest in local people and communities, and enjoyed my role as lead member. My experience as a councillor, both at borough and parish level, has given me the understanding to continue to enable the residents of the Park to play a full part in ensuring this wonderful legacy continues for our children and grandchildren.
