Mr Simon Thompson

ABOUT ME

I have spent most of my career working in the Natural Resource sector and Financial Services. I currently serve as a Director of the British Geological Survey, which among other things provides impartial geoscientific advice to the government and businesses on the role of the sub-surface in mitigating and adapting to climate change. I am also a member of the Energy Transition Commission.

I was born and brought up in Manchester and have spent many happy days throughout my life walking, cycling, climbing and caving in the Peak District. I look forward to working with colleagues on the PDNPA and other partners to improve the wellbeing of local communities and visitors, and to protect and enhance this unique natural and cultural landscape for future generations to enjoy and cherish.
