Additional Information
I have had a long and varied career in environmental sustainability and how people engage with it. Much of this has been in teaching and research in Universities, and I maintain a part-time post as Professor of Sustainability and Leadership at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have applied this through my engagement with sustainability charities and hold trustee posts at the Land Trust and for the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), which have enabled me to put my knowledge on environmental sustainability into practice for communities and for students.
My initial engagement with the Park was as a school child visiting for a geography field trip. This led to my love of the landscape, of geography and environmental management, and shaped my academic career. Over many years I was a visitor to the Park on a regular basis and have been a resident since 2015. The opportunity to be part of the Park’s management and future at this critical juncture in its existence is exciting and daunting! It’s need to manage the needs of diverse interest groups, yet maintain and enhance the natural environment when the purpose of National Parks is being shaped brings huge potential for it to deliver for our common future.
