I have had a long and varied career in countryside recreation, cultural heritage and tourism. Most recently I was the CEO of Visit England, the national tourist board. This has given me a thorough insight into the need to grow economically sustainable tourism.
I understand the challenge of balancing the dynamic of a vibrant local economy with that of maintaining a fragile natural environment. Enjoyment and understanding should be widely promoted.
